Turn on notifications

Grant the system notification permission so Hive can raise banners — required on macOS.

The third onboarding step asks to Allow notifications. Clicking it triggers the operating system’s permission prompt — approve it there.

Why it matters on macOS

Until you grant the OS permission, Hive cannot raise system banners at all. Activity still lands in the Activity view and as in-app toasts while Hive is focused, but nothing surfaces in the background. The app never re-prompts mid-use, so if you skip the prompt during onboarding, grant it later under Settings ▸ Notifications ▸ System permission — the Allow notifications button appears there while the permission is still Not requested.

You can Skip for now and keep using the app; you’ll just miss background banners until you enable them.

Delivery modes

Once permission is granted, tune when banners appear under Settings ▸ Notifications:

• Automatic — a system banner only when Hive is unfocused (the default).
• Always a system banner — a banner even when Hive is in front.
• Always in Hive — never a banner; in-app toast only.

There’s also a master Enable notifications toggle and a Play sound option.
